X Money Beta Taps Cross River Bank for Regulated Banking, Visa Cards

X Money's beta rollout is getting banking and card services from Cross River Bank — the same U.S. lender that adopted Ripple's payment protocol back in 2014. The bank is now issuing Visa Debit and Flex Cards for the platform, bridging a decade-old connection to Ripple's early settlement tech.

A historical banking link

Cross River Bank integrated Ripple's protocol for real-time cross-border transfers more than ten years ago. That early partnership made the bank one of the first regulated institutions to work with the crypto-focused network. Now it's providing regulated banking services for X Money, a payments platform whose infrastructure relies on Cross River for card issuing and settlement. The arrangement creates a direct line between X Money's current operations and Ripple's pioneering technology, even though no official confirmation exists about XRP being part of the system.

Ripple Prime's rapid growth

While Cross River handles the banking side, Ripple Prime — the payments arm of the Ripple network — has seen its revenue triple over the past 12 months. The unit now processes more than 60 million transactions annually and clears over $3 trillion across the United States. Ripple maintains over 300 institutional clients and has been expanding global licensing approvals, building out infrastructure even during market downturns. The numbers show a mature operation that's far beyond the experimental stage of the 2014 integration with Cross River.

The XRP question remains unanswered

Despite the obvious overlap — Cross River's history with Ripple, its current role with X Money — there's been no word from either company about whether XRP will be used inside X Money. The bank's involvement alone doesn't confirm the token's inclusion, and the silence leaves room for speculation. Investors and users are left watching for any signal that the connection might deepen. For now, X Money's beta is moving ahead with regulated banking and Visa cards, but the crypto piece of the puzzle stays unconfirmed.

The beta is live, but the question of XRP integration lingers. No timeline has been given for a decision, and neither X Money nor Cross River has addressed it directly.
