Changpeng Zhao, the former Binance chief, moved $965,000 in BNB and BinanceLife tokens to his Giggle Academy education project and then shut down the public wallet that had made him a target for a different kind of trader. The transfer, confirmed by Zhao on social media, was the last transaction from an address that had become one of the most-watched on BNB Chain.
Why the wallet became a trading signal
Zhao's wallet wasn't just a place to hold crypto. Because BNB Chain transactions are public, traders could see when he burned tokens — and burns reduce supply, which tends to push prices up. So they positioned themselves right before his moves, then sold into the pop. Lookonchain data shows one operator compounding a small stake into a six-figure exit, with one reported trade netting $282,000, a 29x return.
That kind of front-running got old fast. Zhao described the problem as mundane: meme coin spam made the wallet address unusable. While testing Trust Wallet, unsolicited tokens cluttered the interface, and he said he could never fully clean it up. The address had become a beacon for anyone looking to piggyback on his activity.
The $965K transfer and the burn address decision
Instead of moving to a fresh address and repeating the cycle, Zhao routed the full amount to Giggle Academy — his education initiative — and announced he would stop using the wallet entirely. That effectively turns the old address into a burn address: a black hole where tokens go to die. The last recorded activity on the wallet is the transfer to Giggle Academy.
Retiring the address closes the loophole. There's nothing left to front-run. But the underlying tension isn't solved. BNB Chain remains transparent, and if Zhao ever uses a new address, traders will likely identify it and start the same game. The mechanics haven't changed; only the specific address has.
Market response and what's next
BNB traded around $602, showing little movement after the news. A price model carries an A+ rating on BNB with a +34.13% projection over one year, though that forecast doesn't account for Zhao's wallet status.
The question now is whether Zhao can stay off the radar. He's made clear he intends to stop using the wallet entirely, but he hasn't said what address — if any — he'll use next. If a new one surfaces, the front-runners will be watching.
