U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds pulled in $170.1 million on August 3, snapping a $265.4 million net outflow from two days earlier. Seven of the 12 funds saw positive flows, and none reported net outflows. BlackRock's IBIT alone brought in $111.4 million, roughly two-thirds of the day's total.
The July 31 Outflow
Just two days before, the picture looked very different. On July 31, five funds reported net outflows totaling $265.4 million. BlackRock's IBIT led the exodus with $122.7 million leaving the fund. Fidelity's FBTC lost $54.8 million, Grayscale's GBTC shed $52.6 million, ARK 21Shares' ARKB dropped $17.5 million, and Bitwise's BITB saw $17.8 million in outflows. No fund recorded net inflows that day.
Who Bought on August 3
The rebound was broad but concentrated. After IBIT's $111.4 million, Fidelity's FBTC added $33.4 million. Other positive funds: EZBC ($9.2M), BTCO ($6.7M), HODL ($4.5M), BITB ($2.8M), and ARKB ($2.1M). Five funds were flat: BRRR, BTCW, MSBT, GBTC, and BTC. None posted net outflows.
The August 3 inflow follows a pattern of volatility. On July 6, BlackRock put $209 million behind Bitcoin's rebound. The week of July 12 saw Bitcoin's price climb back above $64,000. But analysts cautioned at the time that one week of inflows wasn't enough to confirm demand recovery. The same question hangs over this week's data.
The next few trading sessions will show whether the August 3 inflow is a one-off or the start of sustained demand.
